Kayaking or River Rafting - Salmon River
Suitable only for soft floating.
Conditions of the river: Class 1 or 2 straightforward water from the main Highway 19 bridge at Sayward.
Length of run: is suggested at approximately 7 kilometres and will take up to 3 – 4 hours.
Shuttle from Highway 19 access directly under the bridge to the right of the river when looking south.
Season: All seasons are good, the river flow during summer season 1500 cubic feet per second.
What to expect: Views of farmland, Mt K’Husam, mature second growth timber, a slow meander, deep pools great swimming, variable current but generally a relaxing float.
Possibility of salmon viewing during the mid summer to late fall salmon runs. Keep your eye out for eagles, elk and bears on the banks of the river.

Facilities: Camp ground facilities available at the Village of Sayward with hot showers, laundry facilities, shopping etc. Take out at any number of places in the Village centre or estuary plain.
Guidelines: Bring your mask and snorkel, a quality raft, a fishing rod and enjoy a quiet meander through the scenic Sayward Valley.
